The place

Not just a coffee shop. It is an art gallery too.

Vaffancoffee sits on Wallis Road, a short walk from Hackney Wick station. Federico and Majda run it as a proper Italian caffè: an espresso pulled the way it should be, cakes made in house, and comfortable corners you can actually settle into.

The walls belong to local artists. The pieces change, the crowd is easy, and the A-board out front will tell you the coffee is not free, but close. Come in, take a sofa, stay a while.
